Why won't my coolpix camera charge or turn on?

i just bought a nikon coolpix s4100 about 2 months ago. Yesterday it said that the battery was exhausted, so i tried to charge it but it wouldn't charge. I have now had it plugged in all day long and it still won't charge or turn on! I have tried cleaning it all off and making sure there was a good connction and wiggling it a little bit. is the charger messed up? or the battery? or the camera itself? PLEASE ANSWER!
