How to make yourself a Centre Midfielder on FIFA 11 ?

I want to make my vitual pro a central midfielder, but can only ever become a CDM or CAM! I realise that it says both CDM/CM but is there a way to make yourself an out and out CM such as Xavi or Xabi Alonso?
